The 2026 World Cup Sticker Guide: How to Navigate the Collection (Without Spending £1,300)
I’m 40 in January (wow, even writing that was tough!) so I remember the glory years of a pack of blue Merlin 1994 Premier League stickers only costing 25p.
Fast-forward 32 years and a pack of 2026 World Cup stickers from Panini will now set you back a whopping £1.25 for seven stickers.
2026 World Cup Album: 48 Teams, 980 Stickers
Because this is the first time in World Cup history that 48 national teams will compete in the group stages - up from 32 teams in previous tournaments - the 2026 album is now comprised of a staggering 980 stickers over 112 pages.
BBC News revealed in April that a football finance expert has calculated the total cost of completing the 2026 Wold Cup sticker album could reach a mind-blowing £1,300.
Let’s face it: very few of us will spend anywhere near that amount of money on stickers this summer.
But don’t let those eye-watering estimated figures put you off picking up a copy of the album for you and/or your kids.
Get Going With a Starter Pack
My boys, aged seven and six, bought one album from Morrisons between them with their pocket money: a starter pack, which contained several packs of stickers, plus another six-pack folder featuring 42 stickers.
The total cost was £12.49 and this was more than enough to get them up and running.
This is the first time the boys have collected football stickers and they loved the process of opening each pack and seeing if they got a player they recognised or a special sticker like a shiny national team badge.
While the boys didn’t manage to get a Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lamine Yamal on the first day, they were still buzzing after packing the Scotland and South Africa badges.
They also packed several England players including Declan Rice and Phil Foden.
The album, which you can now pick up for FREE in certain UK supermarkets, has loads of great information inside for kids. So, even if you don’t end up buying many stickers, the album itself will still be useful to have lying around before and during the World Cup.
It shows which group every team is in, their group-stage fixtures, the capacity of every stadium, the tournament schedule and more. Pretty cool, right?
Coca-Cola Stickers Explained
On the final two pages of the book, you’ll find space for 12 special Coca-Cola Exclusive stickers.
In order to get these, you have to find specially marked bottles of Coke or Coke Zero and peel the label to find the sticker hidden behind it.
The Smart Collector’s Strategy: eBay & Bulk Boxes
If you’re serious about completing the album, then purchasing a Collector’s Box on eBay is probably your best bet.
You can currently buy a box of 50 packets, direct from Panini on eBay, for £62.50.
As we get into the tournament, you’ll be able to net some real bargains on eBay. People will be selling duplicate stickers for pennies, so definitely keep a close eye on the website during the World Cup.
The World Cup only comes around every four years, so soak it all in and have fun.
Enjoy the tournament - and enjoy filling up your World Cup sticker albums!
